The British Council Ghana flagship project – The Challenge Educational Reality TV show has been adjudged the Best Reality TV Show in Ghana at the just ended Ghana Television Awards. 

The maiden television award is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes brilliance in television production, television personalities and innovative television programming. 

The Challenge Reality TV show was nominated alongside 3 reality TV shows Ghana’s most beautiful, Miss Malaika Ghana and Star Quest. The four nominees were shortlisted from 12 reality TV shows that qualified for the award category.  

The CEO of GHOne (a British council partner TV station that airs the Challenge) presented the award to Liliana Biglou – Country Director of the British Council Ghana on Friday 24 October 2014. Liliana in receiving the award expressed the British Council’s gratitude to the awards committee and the Ghanaian public for recognizing the innovation the Challenge Reality TV show brings to the Ghanaian television landscape. She also reminded them about the Challenge winning the most innovative project of the British Council globally in 2009. She expressed the British Councils commitment to developing innovative projects to create opportunities for young people in Ghana. 

The Challenge is an educational Reality TV Show that seeks to encourage and reward academic excellence, creativity and a passion for continuous professional and leadership development in the youth of Ghana. The winners of the competition receive full board postgraduate scholarships to study in the UK and also receive a social enterprise funding. 

The British Council has just launched season 6 of the competition which airs on 4 free to air and 3 pay per view TV stations in Ghana.  15 young Ghanaians will compete for the 3 full postgraduate scholarships at stake.
