COMMUNICATION STRATEGIST FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISE AWARENESS
The British Council requires the services of an agency to develop a communication strategy as part of our country strategy for development of the social enterprise ecosystem in Ghana.

Role overview
This strategy should:
1. Develop a campaign to create awareness about the work of social enterprises in
Ghana
2. Develop campaign theme and messaging for the various channels to reach the
target audience
3. Identify appropriate tools and channels to reach the target audience with the
campaign
4. Identify strategies for monitoring and capturing impact data of the campaign
Campaign target
The awareness campaign is targeted at three groups of audience:
1. Policy makers – identify relevance of social enterprises and their contribution to the
national economy
2. (Potential) entrepreneurs to see Social Enterprise as a viable option for
entrepreneurship
3. Consumers of products social entrepreneurs produce.
Expected outcome
We anticipate that the campaign will:
1. Reach at least 1,000,000 people directly and indirectly
2. At least 100 people can identify one social enterprise via a survey
3. At least three policy makers will make a high level statement in support of the campaign
issues
4. At least one of the social enterprises engaged can relate increase in business to the
campaign
5. British Council enquiries on social enterprise will significantly increase from its current
status
Deliverables required
The main deliverable required is a detailed communication strategy drawing together the
different elements of a viable campaign to meet the expected outcomes. The strategy
should include charts and data tables as relevant and include a comprehensive media plan
for the outreach
Additional deliverables are:
o costings for various media buy
o Detailed costing/budget of the strategy
o different channels and platforms to reach our target audience
o audience profile
o Monitoring and impact measuring plans
All work and reporting is to be completed in compliance with relevant industry best practice –
including ethical considerations, confidentiality, data protection and consent.
All data and the intellectual property rights of any resources developed by the contractor as part
of this contract will remain the property of the British Council.
The British Council reserves the right to publish any data or reporting under this contract at its
sole discretion, subject to relevant data protection and copyright law.
Timescales
1. Expression of interest received 2 working days upon receipt of this call
2. Proposed strategy received 7 days following the expression of interest
3. Application review and follow up discussion 3 days upon receipt of the proposed strategy
4. Strategy shortlisted and payments done 7 working days1 upon finalization
