Role overview

The migration and employment promotion project, for which this ITT is disseminated, is aimed at complimenting efforts by government and other stakeholders by providing sustainable support to young people to create jobs for themselves through skills development, business incubation and acceleration as well as seed funding, access to market and networking among entrepreneurs. The programme seeks to support unskilled young men and women including returning migrants to create employment opportunities for themselves and others leading to sustainable livelihoods. The resulting effect is improvement in local economy, reduction in irregular migration, elimination of violent extremism and jobs.  The project also seeks to build capacity of hubs to better support SMEs in Ghana to thrive. This is in line with the Ghana Shared Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy II of Ghana.

The programme is aimed at providing 3200 young leaders in 3 regions in Ghana including returning migrants with skills and information relevant to their business. 400 youth leaders and their enterprises will also be provided business incubation services, 90 will be provided accelerator services.

The programme will host 6 Business Expos in Accra, Kumasi and Sunyani showcasing at least 200 businesses with at least 600 guests in attendance, produce a globally relevant SME incubation and acceleration toolkit for use by the 7 hubs in the 3 regions and develop an enterprise online platform for networking sharing and business sharing among consumers and producers in Ghana.
