Examination services


To protect the health of IELTS test takers in light of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), IELTS tests have been suspended in Ghana until further notice. Affected test-takers will be eligible for a transfer or refund by completing this form here or contacting our centre via email

Professional and University exams

Will my scheduled tests still hold as planned?

The date for your test will determine whether it will come off as planned or not. We are also unsure of how soon this crisis will be gone.

Owing to coronavirus pandemic and shutting down of activities, I would like to know if IELTS exam would still hold in other centres that are not in Accra.

Following the directives of the Ghana government and to protect the health of our test-takers throughout the nation, the restrictions apply to all our centres nationwide.

Must test-takers apply for a refund or can one leave the application until the British Council resume activities

Does the speaking test we have already taken still stand and will it be used at the next transfer date one selects?

If you had your speaking test already, it is not valid and speaking test will have to be taken again.

Since I made payment over two weeks ago, the status of my test date is still showing: "Awaiting Approval". I sent an email and I’m yet to get a reply.

Does the 25% fee apply to a refund requested because of the global pandemic?

The 25% fee does not apply in this case.

Will there be a delay in release and dispatch of results?

Results for all tests already taken have been released online for 30 days. However, hard copy results can only be picked up after the crisis.

Will results be dispatched to test-takers who took their tests in location where the British Council offices are located?

Results will be despatched to other British Council test centres but can only be picked up after we resume operations.

Can we still apply for EOR at this time and how can I proceed?

EORs can only be processed when we resume.

Would the current closure affect the timeline for EOR application?

The timeline for processing EOR will be affected since we are not working in the office to get access to files to work with.

Are there safety precautions being put in place on test day, due to the Corona virus outbreak.

There are currently no tests running due to the lock down.

What’s the update on Checkpoint and IGCSEs?

What’s the update on University and professional exams?

How long will this examination suspension be on for?
